Neeta Madahar
Neeta Madahar (born 1966, London) works with photography, film and video. Her work explores the beauty of the natural world and natural phenomena and by doing so encourages the viewer to contemplate temporality and impermanence.
In 2008 Film and Video Umbrella commissioned Madahar to make ‘Solstice’. This work was formed of two high definition video projections and was a significant development in her artistic practice in terms of the scale of its ambition. The work was part of a solo exhibition, which toured to Harewood House, Leeds; PM Gallery, London, and Aspex Gallery, Portsmouth.
Madahar’s work has been exhibited internationally, with solo shows including Oakville Galleries, Ontario; Fabrica, Brighton; and inIVA, London. Her work has also been in numerous group exhibitions, such as Aperture Foundation, New York; Djanogly Art Gallery, Nottingham; and Gimpel Fils, London. In 2005 she was shortlisted for the Deutsche Borse Photography Prize. Her work can be seen in collections at Harvard University, USA, and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
The artist is represented by Purdy Hicks, London, Julie Saul Gallery, New York and Galerie Poller, Frankfurt.
