Film and Video Umbrella is committed to protecting the privacy of our website visitors, and will only use the information we collect about you lawfully, in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.

We collect information from you in the following ways:

Signing up to our e-bulletin:

When you sign up to our e-bulletin the information that you supply is held securely and will be used by us to keep you up to date with exhibitions, events, opportunities and other news relating to our projects, and the artists with whom we have worked or are working. At no time will we sell, rent or trade your personal information to third parties.

When signing up we collect the following information: your name, email address and postcode. We ask for your postcode for research purposes only, to enable us to understand the demographics of our audiences better. When analysing postcode data, you will be anonymised before such data is processed.

You can unsubscribe or update your information at any time by clicking the relevant links which can be found at the bottom of our e-bulletins. You can also check the information that we hold about you by emailing us at admin@fvu.co.uk. If you find any inaccuracies we will delete your record or correct it promptly.

Our e-bulletin lists are subject to regular ‘cleaning’ so if you do not open emails that you receive from us for an extended period, then you will be automatically removed from our e-bulletin list, and may need to re-sign up.

Your information will only be stored on password protected databases, and only staff who manage our e-bulletin lists will have access to your information.

Purchasing a book in our online Bookshop:

When you want to purchase a book via our bookshop, you will be immediately directed to PayPal who are a company who manage our online sales on our behalf. PayPal have a different Privacy Policy to Film and Video Umbrella, and if you want to find out more about PayPal’s Privacy Policy this can be found on their website.

When you purchase a book via our Bookshop Paypal send us an email containing your order and your name and postal address, so that we can send the book to you. We do not receive your payment details from PayPal. Your name, email address and postal address are retained by FVU only for the purposes of financial accounting, but will not be added to any of our databases. We will however email you to confirm receipt of your order, and to let you know that we have sent your book out, at which point we will also ask if you would like to be added to our e-bulletin list.

Only staff who manage our Bookshop, and our financial accounts will have access to the information you provide us with so as to complete your Bookshop order.

Opportunities

From time to time Film and Video Umbrella will announce job vacancies, student placement opportunities, funding opportunities or call for entries/applications via our website. At this time certain pieces of personal information will be asked for, however, we will always make clear and transparent within our application packs/forms, what your personal information will be used for.
