Sean Dower

Using a motion-control camera rig most often used in the production of special effects, Sean Dower takes the camera on a dynamic three-dimensional journey round a full-sized drum kit. As the camera weaves around the highly reflective black and chromed curves, it tracks the detail of a complex and shifting drum solo, in which both drummer (Steve Noble) and camera are locked together into a single resonant performance.

Working in the diverse mediums of video, sculpture, photography, music and performance, Dower is concerned with the exploration of unique responses to familiar or found situations. Using innovative methodologies and an individual approach to the varied technology he employs, he presents an altered view of the world that encourages the spectator to re-evaluate the potential of their surroundings.

Sean Dower has exhibited and performed internationally. Venues have included: Timothy Taylor Gallery, London; Matt's Gallery, London; Galerie Krinzinger, Vienna; Tate Modern, London; National Film Theatre, London; and MoMA, New York.
