Ori Gersht In a carefully composed scene reminiscent of a sixteenth century Juan Sanchez Cotan still life, a pomegranate fruit stands out from a muted, theatrical backdrop. After a few moments, this symbolic fruit is exploded by a high-velocity bullet; seeds spilling from its disintegrating carcass in extreme slow-motion, and with an eerie and terrible beauty.

His work, in both video and photography, has shown extensively in the UK and internationally. Solo exhibitions include: The Clearing at the Photographers?? Gallery, London; History in the Making at Photo España, Madrid; Afterglow at Tate Britain and Pitch at Chisenhale Gallery, London. His work has also featured in major group shows such as Independence at the South London Gallery, and Reality Check, a touring exhibition organised by The British Council and The Photographers?? Gallery. His work is held in a range of national and private collections.
